Glassine Paper Machine Key Process Step
Beating: Use softwood pulp to a beating degree of 40-50°SR (ordinary paper is generally 20-30°SR).
Papermaking: The slurry enters the headbox, is dehydrated on the wire, and pressed to remove water to obtain base paper. At this time, the tightness is far from enough.
Surface sizing: Use PVA (can be mixed with starch) to fill the fiber gaps and provide a base for overpressure.
Moistening: After drying, the moisture content of the base paper is only 5% to 6%. Before entering overpressure, use hot water to moisten it. The water temperature is 30 to 90°C and the moisture content is raised to 20% to 21%, which softens the fiber and makes it easy to deform and fit during calendering.
Super calendering: The super-pressing machine has more than a dozen rollers, with hard rollers and soft rollers arranged alternately, and the paper is repeatedly pressed in the nip. The high temperature and high pressure squeeze out the air between the fibers, and the paper becomes transparent.
