From Waste to Pulp – The Complete Cardboard Recycling Line

The Cardboard Recycling and Pulp Line is a core industrial link connecting waste and recycled resources. It transforms everyday waste cardboard such as old corrugated boxes (OCC) and cartons into high-quality recycled pulp that can be reused in papermaking, allowing paper fibers to be recycled.

Cardboard Recycling Line

1. Pulping (Hydraulic Pulper): Waste paperboard and water are mixed in a hydraulper, where a high-speed rotating rotor breaks down the pulp into coarse pulp. Large-scale projects often use drum pulpers (such as the Andritz FibreFlow), which gently dissociate fibers through a rotating drum, resulting in good impurity removal and low energy consumption (e.g., Valmet OptiSlush, a single unit can process up to 1300 tons of oven-dry pulp per day).

2. Screening and Purification (Multi-stage Impurity Removal): The coarse pulp undergoes multiple purification stages—

High density cleaner: Centrifugal force removes heavy impurities such as staples and sand.

Pressure screen: Finely screens and separates light impurities such as plastics and adhesives.

fractionating screen (optional): Grades fibers of different lengths to improve paper strength.

tailings screen: Recovers fibers from the finely screened slag, reducing loss.

3. Deinking and Bleaching (optional): When processing ink-containing raw materials such as waste newspapers and office paper, equipment such as flotation tanks is added to remove ink using chemical agents and air bubbles.

4. Thickening and Forming: Low-concentration pulp is dewatered and thickened using a multi-disc thickener. High-concentration pulp can be fed into a recycled pulp board mill for forming and drying to produce dry pulp boards (for easy storage and transportation), or directly pumped to the paper mill for use.
