In the papermaking industry, rollers are among the most numerous, diverse, and critical components of a paper machine. They are distributed throughout various sections of the paper machine, including the wire section, press section, drying section, sizing section, coating section, calendering section, and winding section, undertaking a series of core functions such as support, dewatering, pressing, drying, sizing, calendering, and winding.
Paper Mill Roll Details
The paper machine consists of: a breast roll (receiving pulp), a vacuum couch roll (for high-intensity dewatering, increasing dryness from 12%-18% to 18%-25%), drive rolls, and guide rolls (guiding the paper machine).
The press section is the core dewatering stage. Major rolls include flat press rolls (traditional stone rolls + rubber rolls), vacuum press rolls (perforated roll shells for vacuum water absorption), grooved press rolls (surface grooves for drainage), blind-hole press rolls (blind hole structure, 25%-30% open area), and the shoe press (wide pressure zone, linear pressure up to 1700kN/m, significant energy savings) and controllable medium-high rolls (online adjustment of medium-high pressure to compensate for deflection), which are standard on modern high-speed paper machines.
The drying section includes: a drying cylinder (steam-heated drying), guide rolls (guiding the paper machine and sheet), and a Yankee drying cylinder (a large single cylinder used for thin paper).
Sizing and Coating Section: Sizing rollers and film transfer sizing rollers (for precise sizing and material saving), coating rollers (for coating).
Calendar and Winding Section: Calendering rollers (a combination of hard and soft calendering to improve gloss and smoothness), winding rollers (for winding into large rolls), rewinding rollers (for slitting and rewinding into smaller rolls).
