The consistency of pulp is the primary factor determining its flow characteristics and the fundamental basis for classifying pulp pumps.
Low-consistency pulp pump: Used to transport pulp with a consistency below 7%. At this concentration, the pulp still retains fluidity, and the air content is typically below 10%. These pumps are the most widely applied and are mostly centrifugal in structure. Their design focuses on preventing clogging and providing a certain air-carrying capacity, typically achieved using open, semi-open, single/double flow channel, or vortex impellers.
Medium-consistency pulp pump: When the pulp consistency reaches 7% to 16%, the pulp loses its fluidity, and the air content can rise to 40%. Transporting medium-consistency pulp places higher demands on pumps, such as the ZBJ31 turbulent centrifugal medium-consistency pulp pump, which is small in size, simple in structure, and stable and reliable in operation, significantly improving the pulp conveying system of paper mills.
High-consistency pulp pump: Used to transport highly viscous pulp with a consistency above 16%, representing the most technically challenging type.
